The Sam Levy Village shopping experience is an exciting one. There is so much to love about it; from the security, parking space and diversity on everything that is offered. The mall has not lost its touch as it maintains the zeal it has always had from the early days it was established. Although it is now an ordinary mall to the rest of us, shopaholics cannot help but appreciate its exclusivity.
Sam Levy Village is the home to some of the most exclusive shops in town and in the country too. If you are one of those people who are not keen on buying what everyone has then the Village, as it is fondly known, is your place.
While you find some of our everyday department stores in the complex, there are quite a number of exclusive boutiques. You will only find them at the complex or maybe one or two others around town.
It is a little haven for fashionisters but with money to burn. There is no denying that one has to part with an arm and a leg to get some of the trendy fashion items. Only this week, this writer left one of the shops sulking after spotting a cute pair of the latest round shades. The only problem is they were going for a whooping US$125. That is more than five times the price you would get for an ordinary pair of shades in Harare’s central business district. But what prize can you pay for a timeless pair of Louis Vitton stunners?
International Sporting Brands
Brands are everything to some as they make a person stand out in the streets. While many stores are awash with imitations, shops like Absolute Sports and Addidas Concept store are among the few that offer genuine performance and style brands. These come in handy especially to athletes because only originals have a better chance of surviving in the field.
Health and Fitness
The village is also an all-in-one facility as it has top quality spas and fitness facilities. Although it is also found in Milton Park, Curves, an exclusive gym for women is a favourite among female fitness freaks. Their bragging rights emanate from the fact that they are largest fitness franchise for women in the world — at least according to their Facebook page. Regulars at the centre will also appreciate their state of the art equipment.
Everyone is different so each person’s needs vary too. Our country is a rainbow nation too but not many salons have the capacity to accommodate Caucasians. The village comes in handy as it has places like Goddess Hair and Beauty shop that cater for clients of all races.
Home and Deco
While the mall is located in the outskirts of the capital, it is worth the trouble of driving all the way because their standards are world class. Local is indeed lekker but when it comes to deco, it is nice to add a touch of modern world. This involves borrowing elements from other cultures and shops like Manhattan Interiors has shoppers spoilt for choice.
Although our country is making positive strides in having more of these modern malls in all its corners, more needs to be done. It is not only helpful in decongesting the central business districts but helps in keeping our social lives interesting.
